22 phrases my Southern mama told me to get me through any situation

MY MAMA has a good ole fashion phrase for just about anything I may be going through. In the South, we like to simplify everything and my Mama will inevitably soften any strong emotion I throw at her with a phrase she learned while growing up in the south.

My Mama told me…

“They can kill you but they can’t eat ya. If they eat ya, they’ll have more sense in their stomach than they do in their head.”

This is what she told me when I was afraid of talking to people. Essentially, what’s the worst that could happen?

“You can get glad in the same pants you got mad in.”

You know when you just don’t want to let something go? Well, you can and you don’t even have to change your pants.

“A whistling girl and a crowing hen always come to no good end.”

Hens don’t crow. Get it?

“Worrying is like sitting in a rockin’ chair. It don’t get you no further down the road.”

“Better to be pissed off than pissed on.”

“Turn off the devil box.”

This is what Mama called the television and that’s some of her best advice.

“Ain’t nothin’ but a thang.”

“Don’t get too big for your britches.”

In layman’s terms, chill out and shut up because you don’t know what you’re talking about.

“You don’t know your ass from a hole in the ground.”

“Men see better than they think.”

“Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”

If you have two baskets and you drop one, at least you got one basket of eggs left.

Mama also had these things to say . .

About talking too much

“More wind than a sack full of farts.”

“They’d tear out a stop sign to argue with the hole.”

“She could beat her own gums to death.”

About anatomy

“If your aunt had balls, she’d be your uncle.”

“Don’t cut your nose off to spite your face.”

Angry actions against others could end up hurting you, too.

“Colder than a witches titty.”

I don’t know if this accurately describes how cold anything is, but it’s funny.

About wildlife

“Don’t beat a dead horse.”

It’s over. Forget it.

“Finer than frog hair split four ways.”

I mean a frog’s hair is pretty fine. Fine meaning little. If you’re gonna split it four ways, that’s pretty damn fine.

“There’s more than one way to skin a cat.”

Not that Mama went around skinning cats, but she sure did use this enough to make me believe there was actually no right way to do anything.

“A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.”

You should be thankful for that bird in your hand.

“Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.”

Take your gift and go on with it.

Powerful wisdom from one of the toughest men who ever lived

Guest Post by Simon Black

One day back in the late 1990s when I was a wide-eyed 20-year-old cadet at West Point, we were told that a distinguished visitor was coming to speak, and to be seated in the auditorium by 1pm sharp.

This was pretty routine, one of the great things about attending West Point was the seemingly endless line of world leaders, athletes, scientists, and even celebrities who would address the Corps of Cadets.

During my time at the academy we heard from people like Colin Powell, Oliver Stone, Bill Clinton, and countless more.

On that particular day, the speaker was Vice Admiral James Stockdale.

Stockdale isn’t a household name, but as I would come to learn, he was one of the most impressive and toughest human beings who ever lived.

He was in the twilight of his life when he came to speak to us, just a few years before his death. But even at his advanced age, he had the presence of a giant.

Stockdale had been a US Navy fighter pilot. His full name was James Bond Stockdale, so his call sign became “007”. Perfect.

Stockdale’s life changed in September 1965 while flying a mission over North Vietnam. He was shot down, captured, and spent the next 7 ½ years as a Prisoner of War in the infamous ‘Hanoi Hilton’.

As a POW, Stockdale was tortured regularly, beaten savagely, and exiled to solitary confinement.

At one point during his captivity when he found out that he was to be paraded out in public in Vietnam, he beat his own face to a pulp with a wooden stool, and slashed his scalp with a razorblade, so that he couldn’t be used as a propaganda tool.

He also slit his own wrists once, demonstrating to his captors that he would rather give up his own life than capitulate.

Stockdale was eventually awarded the Medal of Honor for his extraordinary leadership and personal sacrifice.

Years later in an interview with author Jim Collins, Stockdale was asked about his captivity in Vietnam—how on earth did he deal with such harsh circumstances and uncertainty?

I never lost faith in the end of the story. I never doubted not only that I would get out, but also that I would prevail in the end and turn the experience into the defining event of my life, which, in retrospect, I would not trade.

When Collins asked, “Who didn’t make it out [of the POW camp],” Stockdale replied,

Oh that’s easy. The optimists. They were the ones who said, ‘we’re going to be out by Christmas.’ And then Christmas would come, and Christmas would go.

And then they’d say, ‘We’re going to be out by Easter.’ And then Easter would come, and Easter would go. And then Thanksgiving. And then it would be Christmas again.

And they died of a broken heart.

“This is a very important lesson,” Stockdale continued. “You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose– with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.

This is the situation that each of us is facing right now.

We want to be optimists. We want to believe that this pandemic is going to magically vanish tomorrow morning and that we’ll all be able to go on with our lives as if nothing has changed.

But that’s not going to happen.

The brutal facts of our reality are that this pandemic continues to spread rapidly, and it has the potential to kill millions of people.

Reducing that projection requires shutting down the entire global economy… resulting in a wide range of catastrophic consequences, including tens of trillions of dollars of prosperity wiped out, countless jobs lost, millions of bankruptcies and defaults, entire governments going broke, and more.

Saving the economy condemns millions to die. But saving millions from dying condemns hundreds of millions to suffer.

These are the facts. And they are brutal.

To make matters even more difficult, we’re also dealing with a tremendous uncertainty.

There’s no telling what’s going to happen next. Or when. We could see martial law. Supply chain disruptions. National defaults. Looting. Bank failures. Even hyperinflation.

EVERY scenario is on the table… even ones that seemed unthinkable just a few weeks ago. Anyone who says, “There’s no way that could happen,” clearly doesn’t grasp what’s happening.

And frankly we haven’t even seen the real problems yet.

Just wait until the healthcare system is totally overwhelmed, the unemployment rate soars, and major companies start declaring bankruptcy.

I mean… there are still millions of people around the world right now (including countless shit-faced university students on spring break) who aren’t taking this pandemic seriously yet.

We’re clearly still in the opening phase of this crisis. So things could become much worse before they improve.

But amid such harsh circumstances and uncertainty, we should also recognize, as Stockdale did, that the world is not coming to an end.

We cannot afford to be misguided, ignorant optimists who irrationally believe that everything will go back to normal tomorrow morning without any consequences.

Everyone needs to confront the most brutal facts of our current reality—both the challenges and opportunities.

But we should never lose faith that we will prevail in the end and may look back on this pandemic as the most formative and defining event of our lives.

Stockdale was a scumbag murdering people in a foreign land that never harmed the US in any way. He, along with all the people that served in Vietnam should have been prosecuted and hung for their crimes.

So you waste your breath railing against reality? The man made choices, paid for those choices and didn’t complain. I was apposed to the war, but I admire this man’s qualities. Sorry Captain obvious, but you’re nothing but an opinion with no cred.

Captain Obvious (priceless) is like coming home to that nag Liz Warren nightly.

I took a few weeks off from the blog when the Schaden Freude Obvious sockpuppet was first introduced and briefly featured.

Admiring a man’s qualities and being allied with a man are two very different things. Herd animals always go to the strong horse, that simple. You have no principles (other than to herd in the strongest herd). Suppose a man like that was on his way to killing you. When he gets to your house, do you say, “You’re my hero!” Cloying lap dogs at the end of their utility.

Can’t go there SAO. The US had everyone just as convinced “The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming” just as totally as the virus is coming, the virus is coming. It’s the politicians as always.

The US is responsible for murder and even genocide in many foreign lands. This is made possible by people that cooperate in their war making agenda for profit.

If people were prosecuted for aiding and abetting an out of control gov’t, then maybe things would change. As it is, the US is gearing up to take on China and probably Russia in the not too distant future, in my opinion.

If people told the gov’t to pound sand, as I did during the Vietnam era, then all this bellicosity would cease. I read yesterday that there’s a push to change the laws to have women register for the draft. This is early warning of their intentions to require lots of cannon fodder for their adventures.

“Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy.” – Henry Kissinger

Kissinger was a sergeant in the US Army in WW2.

So, should he be granted expert status on his opinion?

Kissinger is a disgusting excuse for a human being. His advice has active participation in murder should have brought him to the gallows.

And you’re a parasitic POS who enjoys the benefit of all the bad things done without actually going out and doing any of them.
F**k your teenage moralizing. Its a zero sum game out there and if we dont do it to someone, someone does it to us. Kumbaya is a nice pre-school song, but it doesnt make it past peoples essential nature.
Prissy friggin idealist.

Well asshole, please list the benefits the society accrues by murdering people all over the globe.

Specifically list the benefits received by spending trillions to destabilize countries and kill their civilians.

Also explain why the US military can’t account for $23 Trillion over the last 20 years.

Go ahead, you amoral swine, I’m waiting.

I don’t understand Chuckie.

But you understand and easily get women. What else is there?

Sao you are lauing blame in the wrong spot bro

Solutions – you are dumber than pig shit. The US military budget in its entire history does not amount to $23 trillion. That you would even parrot such a ridiculous lie is truly evidence of your vast inability to reason.

What has happened is that the military shifts say a $10 million dollar tank from point A to point B, and loses the tracking info, so, there is $10 million that point A cannot account for. That tank is on the books at point B, though, because it was received. Point B sends it to point C, and same thing happens – no tracking receipt at point B, but point C puts it on its books.
Now there is a$20 million discrepancy on the books, but the tank still exists at point C. This happens over and over and over and over. Each time it happens it adds to the discrepancy. But the tank still exists.

But the fact remains – the US military budget in all of its history adds up to under $23 trillion. The bullshit claim you made should immediately have set off alarm bells that it was impossible – if you had two functioning brain cells, you would have immediately said “hmm, yearly defence budget is $600 billion, so $23 trillion is forty years of budget, at current spending levels. Alarm alarm alarm! Bullshit alert! bullshit alert!

But nope, you actually go and post that shit as though it is true.

You are a fucking gullible imbecile without the sense God gave an earthworm.

Well shithead, people who know something about financial accounting and how to investigate fraud and abuse have looked into it and they have concludes there’s $23 T missing.

The military hasn’t ever passed an audit in decades. Why is that?

I’m still waiting loud mouth.

What, can’t back up your bullshit?

Please, Stupid Is Obvious, price just how the US cannot account for $23 trillion during a period when its entire budget was around $10 trillion. Please explain how the fuck that is possible. Pretty please.

You are full of shit without a fucking clue.

So, you admit you are wrong. Got it.

When I asked you a year ago if you know what leverage is/was?
No answer.

And if you think it isn’t the time or place? You are correct. That time and place was a year ago.

Seriously, it is nigh on impossible to visualize that a person can be as stupid as Solutions Ain’t Obvious. He doubles down on stupid, abandoning his claim that the military has mislaid more money than the entire military budgets since the US was formed, and instead now posting a link to a video saying that the US has mislaid $21 trillion.

Hell, what do I know. Maybe $21 trillion has been mislaid – at least it enters the realm of mathematically possible, but highly improbable given the budget is $4 trillion a year or whatever, with 70% of that mandatory payments. But at least it is not entirely impossible, unlike the military shit.

But the odds of me believing what is in a fucking video with no data sources posted is exactly zero.

Solutions, for fuck sake, think about what you post. Put a little bit of brainpower into. Think about the numbers involved, and do they make sense. Think about source material. Just think, for fucksake.

Well asshole, the $21T figure was the value when the original report came out. It has increased by $2T since then.

The people doing the investigation include Catherine Austin Fitts and Dr. Mark Skidmore – not lightweights in their fields. I’d say that they know a bit more about this than some loud mouth shithead like you.

Why not ask yourself why the average person never heard about this discrepancy.

“To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.” – Voltaire

In a similar fashion, to find out who the real gov’t is, who the real deep state is, just look for who gets away with the largest heist in human history over at least a 20 year period and the faux gov’t represented by the moron Trump, the Congress and the courts doesn’t start an investigation.

Also consider that the day before 911, Rumsfeld announced on national TV that DOD couldn’t account for $2T. The very next day, a missile took out the Navy team looking into that missing money at the Pentagon and their data backup site in NY was building 7 that mysteriously fell into its own foot print after not being hit by an aircraft.

Read the clues you fucking moron.

Do you know who has a rougher time getting into Heaven than a rich man? A really smart fucker that only demands answers but never gives them.

You keep doubling down on stupid.First it was the military lost it, then the US govt. make up your fucking mind. Which idiotic idea is it? You cannot even keep your story straight.

Well kemosabe, apparently you have limited reading comprehension ability and certainly can’t connect the dots. Let me spell it out for you seeing as your tribe isn’t noted for its intelligence.

The US military and the spook agencies ARE the real US gov’t. The actors that get elected are window dressing.

How else could $23T go missing? The budget process is just propaganda. The missing money came from many ‘budgets’ as the folks that actually run things have their hands in all the pots.

The actors like Trump and Pelosi and their predecessors never resumed the missing money inquiry after 911 that Rumsfeld to the world.

For nearly 2 decades the theft has been ongoing and our elected officials failed to start an investigation even after the military again failed an audit. That’s probably because they were told not to by the real owners of the country who only have one budget and that’s the entire pot.

L1poh, give SAO’s idea a chance. Truth is stranger than fiction. Yes, you are right that the entire budget of the US Military according to official figures is less that $21 trillion or whatever, but don’t suppose your premises based on government figures are sacrosanct. We know about shadowstats.com, right? We could convert all budget money into 2020 real dollars, meaning adjusted for inflation into dollars of 2020, but I don’t think that is the explanation.

The explanation is that the president has slush fund based on Cold War legislation. The president is allowed to move money between that slush fund and any US Gov. department or entity in either direction. It is possible that budget money was redirected. Furthermore, it is possible that the CIA did ‘favors’ for money that goes into the slush fund.

I just did a quick search and came up with this:

While the documents are incomplete, original government sources indicate $21 trillion in unsupported adjustments have been reported for the Department of Defense and the Department of Housing and Urban Development for the years 1998-2015.

You’ve been propagandized! You premises are wrong.

Doug – you know what they mean by unsupported adjustments? I explained it with the tank illustration above.

You have zero proof, and you keep laying out bullshit that is entirely unsupported by any logical reasoning.

First he says defence lost $23 trillion, then he says the govt lost $21 trillion, then he tries the bullshit that he he was right because the military is actually the govt.

If there has ever been a bigger retard than SAO in TBP, I have not seen it, and I have been here since Admin had hair.

That’s an answer to my comment alright. I have not looked carefully at the back and forth, nor do I wish to do further analysis. For some reason I believe you are both intelligent, logical, and need not be at odds, but everything happens for a reason.

But do you know about leverage?

They will pound sand when they come drafting my son, over my dead body will he go….

You ran off to Canada? Hid in Mommy’s basement? Were you imprisoned?

I retired to the sunny Caribbean where I won’t freeze my ass off when the power cuts start.

Got my generator, inverter/charger, batteries, huge propane tank and a small warehouse full of supplies that we use to run one of the businesses. Have several chest freezers full of food. Racks full of dry goods and canned food. Several water tanks with pressure tanks & RO filters and pumps and enough TP for years.

Yes, I was imprisoned in the US but only in a psychological sense. I was never free there. Constantly hounded by cops to give me speeding tickets that I’d have to fight in court. Only lost once. Constantly robbed by mandated vehicle insurance when I’ve NEVER caused an accident. Constantly robbed by the numerous taxing authorities and even in the southern climes of the DFW area, winters sucked big time.

I believe you are half right and that’s why going into the military these days can be a very lucrative career choice. BUT, the MIC is very powerful to young dumb and full of cum. That flag carrys a lot of weight. Almost as much as the $.

My daughter wanted to go into the Airforce and I supported her. I believe she would have had healthcare for life if she got through boot camp. I could be wrong, it may be longer. I do remember a client telling me the Army paid off very well for him as we were standing in his $1,000,000 townhouse. He was still in the army.

I admit I did not know his full financial picture though. My daughter did not make the cut due to her scoliosis diagnosis. If she had put in 4 years, I also believe she would have benefited mightily from the discipline gained.

Overall, the MIC + the FED = You’re Fucked.

Some damn good men have been created by the military. Maybe they would have been great with or without the military?

Anyone that goes half way around the world with the intent to murder people he’s never met and who have done nothing to him or his tribe is the worst POS the world can produce.

That pretty much describes every person who volunteers to join the US murder machine and doesn’t object to being used offensively especially against civilians. I fail to see how any of them can then be labeled great.

Those that joined not fully realizing what they got themselves into should refuse orders to do anything not in defense.

What happened before Vietnam was before my time and maybe there were men who fought honestly to defend their tribe after being attacked. The US hasn’t been in that situation during my entire life, as 911 was an inside job.

Stockdale was the squadron commander who, after a night recon mission looking for the PT boats that were supposedly attacking the Maddox and Turner Joy (Tonkin Gulf), reported that there were no North Vietnamese boats in the area.

His report was changed at the direction of our nice Jewish president, LBJ.

Stockdale wrote several books, my favorite being: “Thoughts of a Philosophical Fighter Pilot.”

The fact that he was in Vietnam aiding the slaughter of the Vietnamese people makes him an accomplice. There’s no amount of soul searching or after the fact regret to bring back the lives lost.

As long as there are amoral people like Stockdale, the war machine will keep rolling along.

Me and my new hunting pup took a short drive out of town this morning. We walked, actually I walked, he ran and bounced joyously. The 5 month old swam in the fresh scent of a rooster that jumped and cackled as he left the sparse snow beaten cover. Life seemed normal, life was normal. Take a walk Captain, breathe some air, your dark energy appears as smudged letters. Your morals are not in question, your finger wagging and nagging make me sad. You are correct there is nothing that we do that will bring those lives back. Sometimes we are a peaceful people, often we are warlike.

I think his ears are plugged.

You know…I cannot help but believe that in reality you don`t give a shit about Vietnamese peoples.
You could almost convince me you do tho.

SAO: you are a totalitarian.

Because perfectist thinking always leads to totalitarianism.

Note: the word ‘perfectist’ was chosen deliberately to distinguish it from personal (i.e. limited) perfectionism.

Your assertion lacks proof and therefore isn’t worth spit.

I am at the opposite end of totalitarian control as an anarchist. My belief is that each individual should be his own gov’t and act as a sovereign among other sovereigns. Rules but no rulers.

I’d believe in democracy only when there are roughly 7.5 billion democratic governments.

Aim and strive for what you want. Settle for what you can get.

If you start off half beaten you’re you’ve conceded the game.

Some more proof:

You wrote, which I take as a direct response towards the Philsophical thinking of Stockdale:

The fact that he was in Vietnam aiding the slaughter of the Vietnamese people makes him an accomplice. There’s no amount of soul searching or after the fact regret to bring back the lives lost.

no amount of soul searching

That is a perfectist approach, especially as you don’t know (or didn’t list) any specific slaughter of the Vietnamese people that Stockman did himself.

And you didn’t even touch on, in your latest reply, on that perfectist accusation.
One can also be a perfectist anarchist!

Solutions are obvious ?
Many are not in support of what our corrupt politicians involve our military in around the world . Dare I say most in my lifetime has been a huge waste of blood and treasure for the investor class and the political class to benefit from and countless unnecessary deaths of civilians and military on both sides .
To disparage a military career man for his willingness to answer the call is as wrong as it could possibly be .
Men & women of honor and integrity step up and answer the call . The ones we should hold in contempt and accountable are the BIG CLUB members .
The ever present circle jerk of Wall Street to K-Street to Capitol Street . Check out who dumped their investments with inside knowledge recently after a close door meeting . As these political animals emerged from their DC hole they announce all is well and turn around pick up that cell phone and speed dial their broker and direct them to sell sell sell before the market tanked .
All who just pulled this stunt are claiming the Prissy defense : I don’t know nothing about no stock market ! While they pocketed the recent gains run up you and I found out just in time to watch it tank !
Tell me who loves ya baby ! LOL

Young men are built, or used to be built, for fighting. That testosterone is some powerful cud. All that’s needed is a little goading.

We are between the proverbial rock and hard place and the only way out is going to be seriously UGLY.

Unless Jesus decides to Rapture out those that are truly His beforehand.

Oh please, enough with the contrived John Darby “the shoes, the shoes….where did everybody go. ”.

Maintain faith… but confront the most brutal facts.
I read the book Good to Great where I learned this expression. I often remind myself of this quote.
Article was a great reminder. Thanks Simon.

You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end—which you can never afford to lose– with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.

Braid a whip of chords. Overturn the tables. BOW BEFORE NO MAN.

Optimism is just another name for wishful thinking. Truth is neither negative nor positive. It is the only thing that will keep you free, sane and alive. Bullshit kills , even the optimist.

What about the unknown, but reasonably possible future?
We can always make things better…

Wut about muh…gammas gonna gamma.

As any free born man of good report will face adversities and remain vigilant to overcome to the best of his abilities . Fix and save who and what you can while ignoring those unworthy of your best efforts . A triage of humanity reaching out when and where it is in your power to assist without injury to yourself . The combat medic is trained not to take unnecessary risks , protecting themselves to maintain their entrusted abilities to save those they can .

John “songbird” McCain was a wimp in comparison. They all told, stories of how he sucked up to the vietcong and gave them anything they wanted so as long as they didn’t beat him more. I cannot blame him, as I have no idea of the fortitude I would have under such circumstances, but reflecting on McStains tenure as a Senator tells me all I need to know about his character. His time in Hanoi Hilton was a precursor to his time in the Senate. He was a deep stater and I assume he felt he gave all he could for his country in that Hilton and felt we were not worthy of giving more so he went against and voted against America anytime he could. His daughter, the plebe, is just as bad character as he was. What a Piece of fat shit she is…all these people born on third base and think they hit a homer, just like ancient dynasties always speaking of royal blood. Fuck that. I want the times when hero’s become kings, when people give all they can in the heat of battle for liberty and for the people and their heirs and if they survive they are worthy of a crown, not just because their ancestors had courage. These elites are always misplacing someone else’s assets in their pockets the same goes for their ancestors heroics, they claim them as their own. Royal bloodlines are some of the weakest in history….Stockdale deserves great respect, his offspring, none, for they must earn it. That is why a peasant can become a knight and create their own “royal bloodline”. It was and should always be off heroics. The biggest hero’s are the dead Ones just like Trump said…for they gave the ultimate sacrifice..

McCain was in the equestrian class, i.e. military class akin to lesser nobles. He knew the perks of his inheritance and exploited that inheritance to the full. Nothing else did he do.

Another propaganda presentation. Potential to kill millions? No more than any the average flu season, and likely far less than some recent. The economy was already a sham, and the Corobavirus® is being used as a precipitating event to scare people (the middle class producers) into giving up the last vestiges of their prosperity and liberty do the globalist uber class can have all the control they lack. They will soon have all the money, and us rubes will have little pieces of green paper, or cards authorized for property acquisition by others.

This is serious, but it is NOT a medical calamity. It is the end of one period of human history, and the start of a new one, all at once. Keep good humor. You will need it.

No comment on VADM Stockdale. None of these “wars” is worth the life of one decent man. God will judge Stockdale, and use the manifest mercy for which He is so revered.

The one thing on that list we do not have to worry about is hyperinflation. Anyone who understand economics 101 knows hyperinflation comes from a loss of production, and extreme shortages of goods. That is really not a risk. The virus will run its course, new antivirals will be developed to treat it, and we will live with it added to our list of diseases.
The economic impact of this crisis will last much longer than the crisis itself. The virus did not cause the economic disaster that is coming, but it definitely gave it a big push. The fact is that irresponsible economic behavior has been being practiced for decades now, and getting worse as time has passed. Debt is at unsustainable levels, and the only way to balance the books is through deflation. In a debt based fiat monetary system inflation is caused by the interest on borrowed money. In such a system, money is created by debt. When you sign a loan paper, or use your credit card, you, and the banks make money for that purchase right then. The fact that you pay above the price of whatever you buy on debt because of the interest causes inflation. If you default on that debt, that money you and the bank created, disappears, and that causes deflation…
All the talk of money printing is just that, talk. It is designed to prevent panic. The Fed loans money, it does not give it away. It matters little how much money it says it “printed” when no one is borrowing it. Almost all money today is digital, as almost all large monetary transactions are debt based. In reality, if no one borrows the money, the money cannot be “printed”.

We will have massive inflation. You got all of it right except that. When production falls and the currency increases we have more currency chasing fewer goods. That is inflation. We will ultimately get massive inflation from this debacle.
Gold and silver to the moon countering a worthless currency.

You seem to have this ass backwards. The problem going forward is not going to be shortages of crap, there will be plenty of production, and tons and tons of crap. What there will be a shortage of is money.
This crisis is wiping out billions of dollars a day. Poof, gone, by by. When you have the destruction of money it causes deflation. If you do not understand that principal I would suggest studying a little basic economics.
If you think there is going to be a glut of money chasing fewer goods you had better ask yourself where the hell people are going to get all this money? 70% of the “new economy” jobs since 2008 are service sector jobs, like restaurant workers and bartenders. Many of those restaurants and bars will not survive this self quarantine, so those people are out of jobs, and trying to make ends meet on unemployment. The owners of those businesses are bankrupt, and putting their house and car up for sale to try to survive.
There is not going to be any hyperinflation, and gold and silver will fall in value along with other assets because despite what people wrongly believe, it is not money. It is an asset, and all assets will lose value.
The lies of the gold and silver sellers has become a religion among people who believe their hype. Have you ever asked yourself why these fraudulent gold dealers are willing to trade their gold, that they say is going to be worth many multiples more in the future due to hyperinflation are willing to trade it to you for the dollars they claim will be worthless? Doesn’t that bother you a little? I mean if they truly believed their own bullshit, do you think they would do that? Don’t you think they would be keeping it so they would get rich from the hyperinflation?
It is no skin off my nose what other people do or believe, I just try to inject a little common sense. In the end everyone will do what they want, and reap the consequences.

Inflation happens because the money loses value. Takes lots of money to buy product. What happens when you have trillions of fiat tossed into the mix? What happens when no one wants to buy your debt? What is backing the dollar? Full faith and credit? Uh huh….Zimbabwe anyone?

Can’t you recognize the troll by its fruit?

“This is serious:” Creepy clown sightings reported in second community in South Carolina

Posted: Sep 2, 2016 / 04:11 PM CDT / Updated: Sep 2, 2016 / 04:11 PM CDT

Greenville, SC — Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating a rash of incidents involving clown sighting at apartment complexes and other areas of Greenville and Spartanburg counties.

Both the Greenville Police Department and Greenville County Sheriff’s Office have open cases and the Spartanburg Police Department confirmed Thursday that a clown sighting had been reported at an apartment complex there.

Captain Art Littlejohn with the Spartanburg Police Department said officers were called to Canaan Pointe Apartments Wednesday night for reports of a suspicious person. The complainant, a woman, told officers that a person dresses as a clown was standing in her back yard. She snapped a photo and the person ran off. Littlejohn said the responding officer tried to view the photo on the woman’s phone but the image was too dark to make out.

Deputies in Greenville County said the clowns were initially seen in wooded areas, where they reportedly tried to encourage children to join them, but the situation escalated to reports that clowns were also knocking on the doors of homes.

Investigators said no conclusive photo or video evidence has surfaced and no suspects have been named in any of the incidents.

Officer Gilberto Franco with the Greenville Police Department said the biggest obstacle investigators are facing is lack of detail in the descriptions they are receiving of the clowns. Franco said that of the three reports his agency is investigating, not enough information was received about the costumes, hair colors, and whether or not the suspects had on masks or painted faces.

The warning letter

FOX Carolina begin looking into the clown sightings after residents at Fleetwood Manor Apartments shared a letter they found on their apartment doors that left hem them concerned for the safety of their neighborhood.

The letters, which were reportedly posted at the apartment complex on Fleetwood Drive on Aug. 24, stated the property management has received complaints of a person dressed as a clown trying to “lure children into the woods.”

The letter, which appears to be printed on Fleetwood Manor Apartments letterhead, reminds the public children should never be alone or walking through the woods at night.

The property management in the letter indicates Greenville County law enforcement is conducting daily patrols of the property due to the reports. Below is the full text of the letter:

Donna Arnold, one of the people residing at the complex who received the letter, said she called the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office to come out to Fleetwood Manor after her son and others reported seeing clowns behind the basketball court.

“I thought my child was seeing things,” Arnold said. “And then the next day I had about 30 kids come up to me and say, ‘Did you see the clown in the woods?”

Community activist Bruce Wilson said he is getting involved at the apartments to make sure children are safe, even if the sightings turn out to be harmless.

“We have about two to three hundred children out here,” Wilson said. “I want to make sure that law enforcement is doing the right thing.”

The Greenville sightings

Deputies confirmed Monday they were called to the apartment complex on Aug. 21 to investigate after residents reported seeing “a suspicious character, dressed in circus clown attire and white face paint, enticing kids to follow him/her into the woods.”

Investigative reports state police met with a mother, whose name was redacted, who witnessed the clowns in the woods after her son notified her of their presence. The woman told deputies the clowns were shining green laser lights in the woods.

Another resident also reported seeing a “large-figured clown with a blinking nose” standing under a streetlight near the trash dumpsters.

Deputies spoke with children who told them clowns tried “to persuade them into the woods further by displaying large amounts of money.” The children advised they believed the clowns lived in an old house near a pond, accessible via a trial behind the apartment complex.

The house near the pond was located, but deputies said they found no signs of suspicious activity or clowns.

According to the investigative report, deputies also received two prior calls about clowns in the area and one call about gunshots being fired at clowns.

At about 8:30 p.m. Monday, Greenville County Deputies made their way to the Emerald Commons Apartment Complex on White Horse Road after a child said he saw a man dressed in a clown costume about two hours prior.

Another clown sighting was reported at the Shemwood Apartments in Greenville shortly before 10 p.m. on Monday, according to the sheriff’s office.

A 12-year-old told deputies two clowns were sighted in the backyard area, one with red hair and another with a white mask and body suit. The juvenile also told deputies that a person was taking photographs of children.

Four deputies were sent out to patrol the area.

Both incidents at Shemwood Apartments and Fleetwood Manor are being actively investigated by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and patrols have been increased in the area to ensure the safety of the public.

Deputies have not been able to substantiate any claims through evidence or video surveillance, but they said they have don’t have any reason not to believe the claims.

“This type of call in particular where people are alleging that the clowns are being used to lure children, of course we are going to take that seriously,” Greenville County deputy Ryan Flood said.

One Tuesday night, the Greenville Police Department reportedly received two new calls about clown sightings at Shemwood Apartments, within hours of each other.

Callers said kids started chasing two clowns through the complex before the clowns ran to a wooden fence and broke through it to get away. One clown was waiting in a car and the other two clowns jumped in and they took off. Witnesses said the car appeared to be a newer-model black Honda.

The children told officers one clown had a red nose and red hair but no face paint.

On Wednesday police said a young girl walking home from school reported seeing a clown in the wooded area by Hughes Academy in the Pleasant Valley area. Officers are en route to investigate near Rice Street and Deoyley Avenue.

Evan said his football practice was canceled, so he got home earlier than normal. The boy said he called his mother after the clown encounter. His mother then called police.

“My mama told me that she called the cops and I knew she wasn’t playing and I’m being serious about this,” Evan said. “I’m not gonna joke around about something like this, this is serious.”

The investigation

Officer Gilberto Franco with the Greenville Police Department said Wednesday that there were still many unknown variables.

“(Investigators don’t know) if there’s any ill intent towards it, or if it’s just somebody that is out there causing a disturbance,” Franco said.

Franco admits, officers have never received reports quite like these, but if it turns out that masked men are behind it, they could face charges.

“It’s unlawful for you to wear a mask in public whether it’s a mask itself or conceal your face while you’re out in public,” Franco said.

Police are also encouraging parents to be extra cautious until the situation is resolved.

“We want to make sure parents are still remain vigilant and to make sure you keep track of your children playing, don’t leave them playing isolated.”

The community impact

Community activist Bruce Wilson, founder of Fighting Injustice Together, is calling for the clown terror to stop “before someone gets hurt.”

Wilson said a news conference will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Connection on Old Augusta Road.

“We plan to publicly ask whoever is behind this senseless action of scaring child to stop before someone gets hurt,” Wilson stated. “We will also be asking law enforcement, both Greenville city police and Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, to increase patrols in these neighborhoods and to ensure that officers do not simply sit in patrol cars but actually walking the perimeter of these apartment complexes.”

Clown performers weigh in

FOX Carolina also reached to Upstate party clowns for their take on the situation.

Kelly Montfort owns Over the Top Enterntainment. He’s better known at birthday parties and special events as Mr. Twister.

Montfort said his clown antics are only aimed at making people happy and is concerned that the clown sightings in Greenville may be bad for business.

“”I am terrified of that actually,” Montfort said. “I truly hope it’s being made up. I truly hope there is not a psychopath that is going after kids, and if there is, I hope that someone catches them.”

Montfort suspects the clown sightings are not part of a sinister plot but rather part of a marketing strategy.

“I believe there is a chance that it could be a big publicity stunt for someone, a haunted house or some sort of production that will be coming in the next few months.”

I was Team Roping and had a green heel horse get in the wrong lead and trip in the turn. He fell hard on my left leg while running at full speed, skidding to a stop on my left leg. It turned my foot backwards 180, fractured Tib, Fib. Surgery with plates, and Pins. I cut the cast off in an Anchorage hotel. And went anyway. Huge mistake. I crawled around. Crutches didn’t work. But I got my moose. I cut it up while it was being packed out. I was miserable on the plane and in the bush. Bad decision making in my youth.

"I been machine-gunned, hand-gunned, hijacked, left for dead Divebombed, napalmed, nuclear warheaded Dropped from a jet plane with no parachute Shot by a firing squad and raped by a business suit I'm dancing on a landmine, one leg left But I can still crawl and I'm not dead yet!

Southern mom advice you won't find in parenting books

Can you ever forgive yourself for the time your child flipped backward from a shopping cart and onto the floor? Eventually. But you never forget. (She wasn't really hurt, y'all. I promise.) Making mistakes is part of being a mom but we find it hard to forgive ourselves. Perhaps it's all that advice from parenting books. That's why, this Mother's Day, I'm going to tell you some things that aren't in those books.

Maybe it'll make you feel better about yourselves. Or maybe it will just make you look at me askance and wonder how my daughter made it to adulthood. Either way, it should give you a boost this Mother's Day.

1. You will learn to use guilt as a weapon teaching tool.

If you were raised in the South, chances are this gift comes naturally. Baby Girl tells me to this day how psychologically damaging effective my guilt trips were, so effective in fact that she once came home crying and guilt-ridden and confessed without prodding that she'd put her hand prints in wet cement and ruined someone's hard work. It's times like those that make you proud to be a mom.

2. You will make lots of empty threats.

I challenge you to find a southern mama who hasn't made threats along the lines of:

  • "I'll pinch your head off."
  • "I'm gonna tan your hide."
  • Or, "Don't make me cut a switch."

These don't generally harm the child's psyche, as long as he knows that you're really saying, "I love you but if you could just go play in the yard for a few hours, I'd appreciate it."

3. You will wind up repeating your mother's advice.

  • You will remind your children to say, "yes, ma'am" and "yes, sir."
  • You will tell your sons not to wear hats at the table and to open doors for ladies.
  • You will remind your daughter to brush her hair and "put some color on." (But, because we live in a new, PC age where we're not supposed to comment on a person's appearance, you will also tell her, "Pretty is as pretty does.")

Basically, you will begin to hear every phrase your mother ever uttered coming from your mouth.

4. You will feel guilty you don't cook veggies like Grandma did.

The first time for me was when Baby Girl was 3 years old and I had just walked home, carrying her in one arm and bags of groceries in the other, after the car ran out of gas. I fed her Froot Loops for dinner then sat in the floor and cried about what a terrible mother I was. Before she was born, I had intended to cook full breakfasts of biscuits, eggs and grits, and suppers of chicken and dumplings, squash casserole and cornbread. But life got in the way and, at times, I even served (whisper) canned biscuits and (whisper) instant grits. Just never, ever tell Grandma. Her heart won't be able to take it.

5. You should be happy with your figure while you have one.

I have a favorite photo of me swinging Baby Girl around by her arms. We were on the beach with the beautiful ocean and blue sky behind us, me in shorts and her in a little yellow toddler bathing suit. But what I recall most about that day is that I thought I looked fat in those size 8 shorts. If I'd known then I would end up in double-digit sizes, I would have enjoyed the moment. That's why I'm going to market embroidered throw pillows that say: "Might as well love yourself today. You'll only be fatter tomorrow." Stay tuned for ordering information.

6. You might feel the teensiest bit of pleasure at her discomfort at being an adult.

I'm not saying I did this but, for example, you might not be too upset when your college-age daughter, the one who never emptied the dishwasher without a battle, complains her roommate never does the dishes and declares, "I'm not doing them again. It's not my turn!" Or when she bounces her first check and realizes you were telling the truth that having plenty of checks didn't mean you actually had money in the bank.

Of course, it's not right to take pleasure from your child's challenges. But let's not overlook the psychological importance of vindication. Vindication gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. And, as everyone knows, happy moms are the best moms.
